Viv Benchick is a digital artist based in Naarm (Melbourne), Australia. Benchick joins a love of all things high-fantasy, folk, and art history, together with an eye for intricate detail to create illustrations which invite the viewer to linger and discover the little things that comprise the whole.
Benchick has partaken in zine and comic conventions and fairs, collaborated and printed in indie and university publications, and continues to develop personal illustrative projects.
When not drawing, Benchick can be found writing fantasy novels, playing Dungeons & Dragons, playing the guitar, human rights activism, and pampering a spoiled and loved pooch.
Before the handle ‘bencikovart,’ Benchick published art under the name ‘fortifeye’.

Print contributions include ‘Scary Zine Squad’ and ‘Wordly Magazine’.
Vending includes Indie Comic Con and Festival of the Photocopier.
Exhibited in ‘Very Superstitious’ group show, Blackcat Gallery, 4-15 May, 2022 and ‘Buggin’ Out’ group show, Off The Kerb Gallery, 7-17th December, 2023.

FAQ
What is/are your medium/materials?
I create digital art using a 22HD Wacom Cintiq as hardware and Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Canva as software.
What Photoshop brushes and textures do you use?
I primarily use self-modified variations of the default oil pastel brush. I also use some of Kyle T Webster’s Wet Media and Gouache Master brushes, purchased through the Adobe marketplace, and True Grit’s brushes and texture sets.
What sort of art can I commission from you?
I only take on commissions for commercial illustrations and designs. If you wish to discuss your project with me to determine a price, you may do so via the ‘contact’ page.
